July 2007

Well the rain has finally got to everyone, even me.

I have been quite fortunate to have planned a small break to Devon, which meant I missed the worst of the rain. I did still miss Buckminster, which was very unfortunate as Hermes missed his PAVO qualifier and I just don't know where to find another one. I have however decided on another little trip overseas, which is looking like a very wise decision at the moment as the weather is supposed to stay this way for a while yet. I'm planning on taking Maybe Cavalier, Hex and Hermes, so I will be quite busy.

Burghley preparations so far are all going to plan (keep your fingers crossed).  I have just come back from a couple of days training with Lucinda Fredericks, so now hoping for a more improved dressage test.

I don't have many competitions to report from, I am however mid-competition!  Jakata did hid dressage (33.5) at Aston le Walls on Friday in a Dressage arena that looked a little bit more like a lake, now, I have to wait till Wednesday to show jump and cross country...

Great Witchingham

Well, the ground was surprisingly good seeing as how much rain we had.  Saturday was a nice quiet day to get back into the swing of things. I had Jakata in the OI, who produced, what can only be described as an average test, as he was a little lively after his break.

MC (Maybe Cavalier) was doing the intermediate. He also did an average test and unfortunately we have no excuses for that one as he has been working amazingly at home. They both got 37.

Two clear SJ rounds. Great. Then a little hack round the XC on Jakata. Didn't go very fast, so we were very pleased to come 10th. MC however, had a baby moment at the steps at fence 3 and put his foot back on the second step. How annoying.

Danielle managed to do the best of all and came 2nd in the Intermediate.

Sunday meant a busier day with 3. Hermes and Sonic Boom did amazing tests to get 27 each. French Touch however got a 50. Not quite sure why, it wasn't that bad!

Hermes then just touched a rail and unluckily it came down. Sonic was a little naughty and jumped really well until the end... when he decided to start bucking into the last combination. We had both parts down.. naughty pony!

Both were great XC. Hermes finished 3rd which was fantastic and Sonic was HC today after his little holiday. Then French Touch finished the day off well on a double clear. He has now gone home for a little holiday.
